• SKIP this lesson if you have a brand new Manychat account with ZERO contacts.

Action Items:

• Estimated Time: 10 Minutes
• When To Use This: If you have a Manychat account with contacts on it, but you’re not doing anything with those contacts now and would like to reduce your monthly bill on Manychat by removing these contacts (but keeping their data.)
• How This Works: We will purge anyone who hasn’t chatted with you in the last 90 days.
• What To Do After You Purge Contacts For The First Time: It’s totally optional for you to keep doing this, but in case it’s helpful, our ongoing process is to do this every 90 days.

Follow this process:

1. Go to your Manychat dashboard at Manychat.com.

2. Go to the “Contacts” tab.

3. Filter everyone in the account whose Last Interaction on Messenger was more than 90 Days ago.

   1. Exclude anyone who is on your Messenger List, which will use this filter: "Messenger: Subscribed to List”.

4. Add these people to a Contact Segment named: MSGR >> ManyChat Purge >> MM/DD/YY. Replace “MM/DD/YY” with today’s date in U.S. date format. For example, May 5 2023 should be 5/5/23.

5. Add a tag to all of these people named: MSGR >> ManyChat Purge >> MM/DD/YY. Replace “MM/DD/YY” with today’s date.

6. Refresh the page on the Contact Segment.

7. Before you complete the next step, double check that you ran through Steps #1 - 4 correctly. The next step is irreversible.

8. Use the Bulk Action to “Unsubscribe from Account”.

   1. Note, there is a “Delete contacts” option, but you will NOT be selecting that.
